Overview

Watson & Wyatt were given the monumental task of project and event managing one of the largest multi-day conferences hosted in Queenstown in recent years.

This was a five-day conference for 400 guests from Australasia that comprised six major events across the region including: a surprise wine and food festival at a remote high country station with a nighttime Jimmy Barnes concert, dramatic theatre we wrote and produced about the local legend of lake Wakatipu, and a Guiness World Record challenge.

The Watson & Wyatt team tackled many logistical challenges to make these events happen in addition to managing the flow of guests for the entire week, requiring more than 250 staff rotations to keep everyone maintained and safe throughout.

From the moment we arrived to when we left five days later, the service was exceptional. Each event was beautiful and distinct, yet cohesive, and it showcased what New Zealand has to offer. The impeccable planning left no room for error for our guests. We didn’t expect such high level of professionalism, and to see such a complex event delivered without a hitch from a local design team. Watson & Wyatt matched or exceeded anything we’ve had in some of the biggest cities in the world where we’ve hosted past conferences.

The events surrounding the conference have definitely been the most memorable we’ve had. We’re in a new country every time and this was the best so far.
